Keanu Reeves has joined the cast of a new film called Generation Um, according to reports.

The indie drama will also star Serbian-Australian actress Bojana Novakovic and Adelaide Clemens, Variety said, and will shoot in New York.

Keanu's character goes on a journey of self discovery with his two friends, as they live life on the fringe of society.

The film follows one day in the lives of the characters, who are immersed in sex and drugs and spend their days in bars.

The movie will be directed by Mark L Mann, whose previous credits include Finishing Heaven, and who has also written the script with Alison Palmer.

Keanu next stars in Henry's Crime, which has its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, and recently appeared in The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee, while Bojana will be seen in Devil.

Keanu Reeves Has Sex, Uncertainy In Um

Often criticized for stilted delivery and occasionally dazed appearance, you’d think that Keanu Reeves would be perfect as the lead for a movie called Generation Um, wouldn’t you…?
Reeves will play the lead in what sounds like one of those movies that try and make Important Statements About Life Today (As if the title wasn’t enough of a nod in that direction). According to Deadline Hollywood, the movie will follow Reeves’ character “and two beautiful companions as they immerse themselves in sex, drugs and indecision.” I’d like to think there’ll be some kind of plot in there, as well, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

The funniest part of this news for me is the idea of the movie defining any new generation. Keanu Reeves is 44 years old. Doesn’t that make him part of the self-important Generation X? Shouldn’t someone younger be heading up a new generational movement?

Keanu Reeves to Star in GENERATION UM…
by Matt Goldberg Posted:September 9th, 2010
Keanu Reeves has signed on to star alongside Bojana Novakovic (Edge of Darkness) and Adelaide Clemens (Mad Max: Fury Road) in Mark L. Mann’s indie-drama Generation Um… Per Variety, “Pic follows a day in the life of Reeves’ character and his two cohorts as they live life on the fringe, immersed in sex, drugs and indecision. As they navigate their daily routine of bars and crowds, they embark on a path of self-discovery.” I don’t feel like there’s any need for me to make the world’s easiest joke by saying that Keanu Reeves, a man who is regularly portrayed as dim-witted (even though nothing in his public life that suggests he’s an idiot), is starring in a movie called “Generation Um…”

Reeves will next be seen in the drama Henry’s Crime, which is playing at this year’s Toronto Film Festival. He’s also attached to Gabrielle Muccino’s sci-fi drama Passengers. Generation Um… begins shooting today in New York.
